Traditional company, fascinating history.
Damgaard was founded in Düsseldorf in 1948.
To company founder Gustav Damgaard, the decision to specialise
on the production of wire for grooves offered one central
advantage. For by focusing on one product, it was so much easier
to discover ways of improving both the product and production processes.
A major step forward on this count was the invention
of the interlocking wire or E-type, followed one year later
by the invention of the interlocking V-type
wire system. The latter proved to be a significant technical
breakthrough, from which spinning mills worldwide are still benefiting
today.
Due to continuing growth, our company moved
to nearby Langenfeld in 1961. The new premises, with a total area
of 7,600 square metres, housed two production halls, as well as
an administration building.
Our programme was extended to include metallic card clothing, mounting
equipment and doffer comb blades. Our production facilities are
computer-controlled, and offer hitherto undreamt of precision
and perfection.
Traditionally, our machine park has always been based mainly on
in-house developments. In order to keep pace with technical developments,
all machinery is subject to sophisticated upgrading and ongoing
optimisation.
Since 1st of September
2005, Damgaard was
integrated into the BEKAERT group. Mr. Wolfgang Wimmer took
over the responsibility the new Damgaard division.
As a result the current production programm was
extended, the stock improved and the customer
service optimized.
